Since 1993, when the city police and the state police merged, all marked police vehicles in The Netherlands have the same. Patrol cars have a blue and red striping and white reflecting dots, which mark the outline of the car. Cars from supporting units only have the blue part of the striping.
The look of the patrolcars was designed by Studio Dumbar. The design is also used for other emergency services like fire brigade, ambulance service, life guard, Royal Gendarmerie and the Bomb Disposal Unit form the Ministry of Defence
